About Kevin C. Havelda

Kevin helps clients navigate challenging issues across a broad range of complex and simple litigation, including employment litigation, commercial litigation, physician and medical provider licensure complaints, and insurance litigation. From his experience as a trial lawyer, Kevin understands firsthand that creative solutions are required to solve both challenging and simple disputes, and that advocacy does not end in the courtroom. Kevin also practices in employment law, with a specialty in the area of restrictive covenant disputes.

Kevin’s deep understanding of every stage of litigation (from pre-suit to appeal) allows him to advise clients based on their current needs. Kevin also appreciates that most clients prefer to avoid the courtroom altogether and specializes in both formal and informal dispute resolutions. His extensive courtroom experience allows him to advise clients to avoid costly disputes and to improve contracts and handbooks based on current litigation trends. Further, Kevin appreciates that employment law is a dynamic field and requires an intimate familiarity of his clients’ workplaces as well as the current trends in the law. Kevin approaches his advocacy as a collaboration with his clients to optimize outcomes and workplaces to help clients achieve their goals.

Prior to joining Johnson Muffly & Dauster, PC, Kevin practiced at a nationally recognized trial firm in Denver, where he specialized in employment, commercial, insurance defense, and medical malpractice litigation. Prior to this experience, Kevin served as an inaugural law clerk to the Honorable Claria Horn Boom of the United States District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky. Before his clerkship, Kevin was an associate at a national firm and practiced in the areas of commercial and employment litigation. Kevin attended law school at the University of Kentucky Rosenberg College of Law, where he was awarded the Faculty Cup at graduation for his efforts inside and outside of the classroom. He served as a Teach For America Corps Member in post-Katrina Greater New Orleans, and was a founding teacher of a charter school in Brooklyn, New York following his Teach For America commitment, where he obtained a Master’s in Education. Kevin graduated from Centre College in Kentucky, where he was a member of the men’s varsity soccer team.

Outside of his practice, Kevin enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, and is an avid soccer fan. He runs and bikes regularly, enjoying all that Fort Collins has to offer. In addition, Kevin is the Member at Large to the Larimer County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division, a current Board Member for Teach For America’ Alumni Division, and often volunteers for the Kentucky YMCA’s Youth Association. He is licensed in both Colorado and Kentucky.
